Weekly Torah portion
Parascha V'Zot HaBerachah וזאת הברכה
Deuteronomy (Dewarim) · Deuteronomy 33:1-34:12
„And this is the blessing"
Summary
V’Zot HaBerachah is the final portion of the Torah, read on the holiday of Simchat Torah. It begins with Moses offering unique and poetic blessings to the various tribes of Israel before his death.
The narrative then describes Moses ascending Mount Nebo to gaze upon the Promised Land, which he is not permitted to enter. He dies there at the age of one hundred and twenty, and G"d buries him in an unknown location.
The Torah concludes by mourning the loss of Moses, testifying that no other prophet ever arose in Israel who knew G"d as intimately or performed such great wonders in the sight of all Israel.
