Weekly Torah portion
Parascha Ha'Azinu האזינו
Deuteronomy (Dewarim) · Deuteronomy 32:1-52
„Listen / Give Ear"
Summary
Most of the portion consists of a prophetic song that Moses recites to the people of Israel. He calls upon the heavens and the earth as eternal witnesses to the covenant between G"d and the nation.
The poem recounts Jewish history, describing how G"d protected the people in the desert, but warns that material prosperity might lead them to forget their Creator and turn to idols.
The song concludes with a promise of ultimate redemption and reconciliation. Afterward, G"d instructs Moses to ascend Mount Nebo to view the Land of Israel before his passing.
