Weekly Torah portion
Parascha Pekudei פקודי
Exodus (Schemot) · Exodus 38:21-40:38
„Accountings of"
Summary
The portion begins with a detailed accounting of the gold, silver, and copper donated by the people for the construction of the Tabernacle. It provides a transparent record of how the communal resources were utilized to create the sacred vessels and structure.
The narrative then describes the crafting of the priestly garments, including the apron, breastplate, and robe, made exactly as G"d commanded. Once all the work was finished, the components were brought to Moses, who inspected and blessed the craftsmen for their faithful service.
Finally, Moses assembles the Tabernacle, and the Divine Presence fills the sanctuary in the form of a cloud. This signifies that G"d has chosen to dwell among the Israelites, concluding the book of Exodus with the successful establishment of a home for the Divine in the wilderness.
